MARS
Multi-attribute rotation scheme: A tool for reservoir properties prediction from seismic inversion attributes.
MARS is a hybrid rock-physics/statistical approach designed to yield the optimum seismic inversion attribute correlation to target reservoir properties.
The method performs a comprehensive assessment and selection of all possible attribute combinations, ensuring the optimum rock-property calibration for each geologic condition within a given data-set of seismic and well information.
Pre-requisites for MARS include:
One or more well-log data-sets.
A reliable tie between synthetic and seismic data.
Robust impedance attribute calculation.
The resultant reservoir property volumes obtained from the MARS assessment can be used in production and exploration settings for reservoir characterization and delineation, and as soft variables in geostatistical workflows for static model generation and reserve estimation
